How do I use the solder seal connector?
Strip the wire ends, insert them from opposite sides of the connector and overlap the conductors beneath the center solder ring. Apply heat evenly until the tubing shrinks, the adhesive seals the ends and the solder flows around the conductors.
Should I use a heat gun?
Yes. A heat gun is strongly recommended because it provides more even and controlled heat, helping reduce the risk of overheating, burning or damaging the connector.
- Move the heat continuously around the connector.
- Do not hold concentrated heat on one spot for too long.
- Heat until the solder flows and the tubing seals tightly.
Can I use a lighter?
A lighter can be used with caution, but a heat gun is the safer and more consistent choice. If an open flame is used, keep it at a safe distance and move it continuously.
- Use the lower blue portion of the flame rather than the hotter upper yellow flame.
- Never hold the flame directly against one section of the connector.
- Keep away from fuel, solvents and other flammable materials.
- Work in a well-ventilated area.
